The Other Grammys / Celebrating Our Black and Brown Communities

What is The Other Grammys:

The Other Grammys is an award show and musical celebration of minorities and the communities they live in. The word other is used to identify communities who have been historically marginalized in this country; women, people of color, people from poverty stricken areas, and people from the LGBTQ community. This year's show will focus on celebrating African American and LatinX people who live in Chicago's South and West Side. The award show  will honor students from the Jacob Carruthers Center (NEIU),  Catalyst Circle Rock Elementary School, and Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy in telling their stories of perseverance and also award them laptops. The show will award 4 Other Grammy awards to African American and LatinX activists who have shown perseverance and resilience in supporting black and brown people during the pandemic. The show will feature African dancers, drummers , a live band, musical performances, spoken word artists, and two live DJs that will capture the essence and beauty of African American and LatinX culture. The event will be held at The Quarry Music Center at 2423 E. 75th street  in the South Shore Community. The event starts at 5pm and ends at 9pm (Open bar from 5:00-6:30pm and dinner from 6:00-7:00pm). The  actual show will start at 7:00pm and ends at 9:00pm. This is a black tie event that will be catered by Chef Shawn. The food will capture the spice, flavor, and seasoning of African and LatinX cuisine.
