Senior Graduation Class of 2023 Details!
Dear Class of 2023,
Congratulations to our IHSCA Class of 2023 for reaching a major milestone in your lives as you close out this chapter in your educational experience. Families, please review the following to familiarize yourself with graduation details and expectations.
Graduation Ceremony:
Graduation will be on Saturday, June 17th, at the Rauner YMCA outdoor field. The ceremony will begin at 5:00pm. Families can begin to arrive as early as 3:00pm. We will be providing light refreshments to our guests.
Backup Date In case of Bad Weather:
In case of bad weather, our backup date will be Sunday June 18th.
The Day of Graduation:
To prepare our Seniors on the day of graduation all Seniors must be dropped off at IHSCA by 2:30pm and should arrive with their cap and gown on, dressed in formal attire. Our seniors will be provided with a light lunch and refreshments.
Graduation Attire:
All students must wear their cap and gown with comfortable shoes. Seniors have permission to decorate their caps. Caps must not be inappropriate and abide by the Student Code of Conduct. All decorations MUST lay FLAT on the cap. Your cap cannot make noise. No 3D objects can be placed on the cap.
Parking
There is limited parking in the Rauner YMCA. We will ask our district police if we have permission for parents to park alongside Western by the Rauner YMCA.
Photos and Balloons Policy
Families are asked to stay seated throughout the ceremony. Families must be thoughtful of others present and should not obstruct others view of the ceremony when taking pictures. We will have a professional videographer recording the ceremony which will be made available for all to view at a later date.
Balloons must stay in the car until after the ceremony is over.
Diplomas
Diplomas must be picked up at school the following week between, June 26th to June 30th. Students must be in good standing to receive their diploma. Students must have all the graduation credits required and all fees must be collected.
Graduation Practice and Senior Awards:
We will have a Senior Awards Ceremony and Graduation Practice on, Wednesday June 14th from 2:00pm – 5:00pm. Seniors will meet in the cafeteria. Seniors that do not attend practice will not be able to participate in the graduation.
Cap and Gown Pickup and Tickets for Guests:
On Wednesday June 7th seniors will receive their cap and gown and guest tickets in the cafeteria after school. Each student can receive up to a maximum of 7 tickets for guests. The senior student does not need a ticket. If there are tickets left over, students can request additional tickets. Every guest attending must present their ticket at the graduation.
Safety and Security
When families arrive to the commencement, all families must go through our security checkpoint, each family member must have their ticket available to enter. All bags and individuals will be searched, anyone found with vape pens, marijuana, cartridges, tobacco, knives, weapons, will have their items confiscated by our off-duty police officers and will not be allowed to enter.
