Instituto Wraparound Services

IHSCA students and families are part of the larger Instituto del Progreso Latino community. Through Instituto’s network of programs and services, families can access education, employment, immigration, public-benefit, food, youth, and family-support resources.

We believe student success is strengthened when the entire family has access to opportunity and support. Instituto’s wraparound approach helps families build stability, continue their education, develop career skills, and navigate important community services.

Instituto serves more than 25,000 families annually through education, career development, immigration legal assistance, family resources, and supportive services.

Immigrant Family Resources & Immigration Legal Aid

Instituto helps immigrant families navigate important services, understand available options, and connect with trusted assistance.

Family Resource Navigation

The Immigrant Families Resource Program can help eligible community members understand and apply for services such as:

• Medicaid and Medicare
• SNAP and LINK food benefits
• Childcare assistance
• Unemployment assistance
• Other eligible state-funded services

Immigration Legal Services

Immigration legal services may include naturalization, citizenship applications, DACA, family-based immigration petitions, permanent resident card renewals, asylum-related assistance, and visa assistance for qualifying victims of crime or domestic violence. Legal services are provided by appointment.

Immigration legal services are located at 2555 S. Blue Island Avenue. Eligibility and available services may vary.

Instituto Community Food Pantry

Instituto’s in-person food pantry provides community members with access to fresh produce, dairy products, meats, canned goods, and household items while supplies last.

Food-pantry hours and availability may change. Families should review current information before visiting.

Adult Education, GED & Family Literacy

Parents and adult family members can continue their education through programs designed for different learning levels, goals, and schedules.

• Spanish literacy and elementary education

• Family-literacy programming
• Academic support and enrichment activities for children
• After-school and family programming

Instituto’s GED program serves approximately 60–80 students each year, with classes offered in English and Spanish. Family Literacy has supported families for 30 years and serves more than 150 families annually. Certain programs allow parents to participate in classes while their children receive supervised educational activities and academic support.

Instituto helps individuals strengthen their skills, continue their education, earn credentials, prepare for employment, and advance into family-sustaining careers.

Available supportive services depend on the program, participant needs, eligibility requirements, and current funding.

A Healthcare Education Pipeline

Instituto College

Instituto College provides adult learners with opportunities to prepare for careers in healthcare through programs such as Basic Nursing Assistant training and the Associate Degree in Nursing program.

Together with Instituto’s Carreras en Salud pathway, students can explore healthcare education, industry preparation, and support as they progress toward meaningful healthcare careers.
